Komodo Tour Itineraries Day by Day: 1D, 2D1N, 3D2N and 4D3N Routes

A Komodo tour itinerary is a day-by-day sailing route through Komodo National Park in Flores, Indonesia, usually departing from Labuan Bajo. The standard 3D2N itinerary covers Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong on day one, Padar sunrise, Pink Beach, Komodo Island and Manta Point on day two, and Kanawa on day three.

komododragontour.com is a Komodo National Park sailing tour operator, run by Komodo Luxury since 2015 and part of Juara Holding Group. We own, crew and maintain our own fleet rather than reselling other people’s boats, which is why the routes below are the routes we actually sail. Founder and CEO Agung Afif is a Forbes Business Council member; the company holds TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice for 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, TripAdvisor’s Best Boat Agency in Labuan Bajo 2025 and Best Boat Rental (Tempo), and carries 4.8 stars from 152 Google reviews.

How many days do you need for a Komodo tour?

Three days and two nights is the recommended minimum for a proper Komodo boat tour. A 1-day speedboat trip suits travellers short on time and still delivers dragons, Padar and Pink Beach — but it cannot give you Padar at sunrise, Kalong Island’s flying foxes at sunset, or an anchorage under the stars, because all three require sleeping aboard.

The 1-Day Speedboat Tour itinerary

Day 1. Labuan Bajo – Padar Island – Pink Beach – Komodo or Rinca Island – Manta Point – Kanawa or Kelor – Labuan Bajo. Departure from Labuan Bajo harbour is between 05:00 and 06:00 and you are back at the pier around 17:00-18:00. The speedboat climbs Padar’s staircase to the three-bay viewpoint mid-morning, swims at Pink Beach (Pantai Merah), then runs to a ranger station for the dragon trek. Manta Point (Karang Makassar) follows if currents allow, with a last snorkel at Kanawa or Kelor Island before the return leg.

Shared seats are USD 91 per person (IDR 1,450,000). A private speedboat for your group is USD 800 per boat, which usually works out cheaper per head from six or seven people and lets you set your own departure time. Full detail on the one-day speedboat tour.

The 2D1N itinerary

Day 1. Labuan Bajo – Kelor Island – Manjarite – Kalong Island – Overnight at anchor. A late-morning departure, a short hill climb on Kelor Island, snorkelling in the sheltered water at Manjarite, then anchoring off Kalong Island in time for the flying foxes. At dusk thousands of fruit bats lift off the mangroves and stream across the channel — the single most reliable spectacle in the park, and only overnight boats see it.

Day 2. Padar Island – Pink Beach – Komodo Island (Loh Liang) – Manta Point – Labuan Bajo. A pre-dawn tender to Padar’s trailhead puts you on the ridge as the light hits the three bays. Then Pink Beach, the ranger-guided trek at Loh Liang, and manta snorkelling at Karang Makassar before returning to Labuan Bajo mid-afternoon. Rates run USD 250-450 per person depending on vessel and cabin. See the 2D1N itinerary page.

The 3D2N itinerary (our recommended route)

This is the itinerary most travellers should book, and the one this page’s target search — “komodo tour itinerary 3d2n” — is really asking about. It is sold as a shared boat tour (locally called an open trip), priced per cabin.

Day 1. Labuan Bajo – Kelor Island – Manjarite – Kalong Island – Overnight at Kalong. Board around midday, lunch under way, hill climb and swim at Kelor Island, snorkel at Manjarite over hard coral in calm water, then anchor off Kalong Island. Sunset drinks on deck while the bats emerge. Dinner aboard; night at anchor.

Day 2. Padar Island – Pink Beach – Komodo Island (Loh Liang) – Manta Point (Karang Makassar) – Taka Makassar – Siaba – Overnight at Siaba or Sebayur. Wake at 04:30 for the Padar climb. After breakfast, Pink Beach for snorkelling off the red-tinted sand. Midday brings the ranger-guided trek at Loh Liang on Komodo Island. Komodo dragons are wild, dangerous animals. You must always stay with your assigned park ranger during any trek and follow their instructions — no walking ahead, no crouching for photos, no separating from the group. The afternoon is manta snorkelling at Karang Makassar and a stop at Taka Makassar, the disappearing sandbar, then turtles at Siaba before anchoring for the night.

Day 3. Kanawa Island – Kelor or Sebayur – Labuan Bajo. An early snorkel at Kanawa Island’s house reef, breakfast under way, and disembarkation in Labuan Bajo late morning — comfortable for an afternoon flight back to Bali.

The 4D3N private charter itinerary

Private whole-boat charters are priced per night, from USD 5,300 per night for an entry-luxury phinisi, USD 8,000+ per night for larger VIP vessels, and up to USD 35,000+ per night for VVIP flagships such as Lamima (65.2m, the largest phinisi-hulled yacht in the world) or Prana by Atzaro. Minimum three nights, maximum eleven — so 4D3N through 12D11N.

Day 1. Labuan Bajo – Kelor Island – Sebayur – Kalong Island – Overnight at Kalong.

Day 2. Padar Island – Pink Beach – Komodo Island (Loh Liang) – Manta Point – Overnight at Gili Lawa.

Day 3. Gili Lawa sunrise ridge – Taka Makassar – Siaba – Rinca Island (Loh Buaya) – Overnight at Rinca. Loh Buaya is wilder terrain than Loh Liang and generally offers the better sighting odds; charter guests get there in the late afternoon when day boats have gone.

Day 4. Manjarite – Kanawa Island – Labuan Bajo.

Our owned fleet includes Neptune Cruise Phinisi, Komodo Signature (78.2m, world-record wooden phinisi superyacht, ten balcony suites for twenty guests), Komodo Prestige (66m, eight suites), Velocean, Celestia, The Maj Oceanic, Naturalia, Vinca Voyages, Yumana, Mosalaki, Catnazse and Elbark Cruises, plus the Ayvara Cruises (36m) and Malca Voyages (30m teak) cruise vessels. What do the park fees cost on top?

As of January 2026, Komodo National Park fees for foreign passport holders are IDR 250,000 (about USD 16) per person per calendar day, set by Government Regulation PP No. 36/2024 — multi-day trips are charged per day in the park, not as a flat trip rate. Fees are set by the park authority and paid separately from your tour price; rates for Indonesian citizens are lower. Details on park fees and tickets.

When should you sail this itinerary?

The dry season, April to November, is best, with July to September the peak. Seas are calmest, visibility at Manta Point and Siaba is highest, and dragons are most visible near the ranger stations. Labuan Bajo (LBJ) is the gateway — roughly one hour by air from Bali. See best time to see Komodo dragons and Rinca vs Komodo Island.
