Komodo boats are the phinisi sailing vessels, yachts, cruises and speedboats that operate tours in Komodo National Park, Indonesia, departing from Labuan Bajo on Flores. Most travellers compare them on four things: class, cabin count, maximum guests, and whether the boat is sold per cabin (shared) or chartered whole (private).
Updated January 2026
This page exists because comparing Komodo boats is genuinely hard. Twenty-seven separate vessel pages on a website tell you nothing about which one fits your group, your budget and your tolerance for sharing a deck with strangers. So here is the whole fleet on one screen — every boat we own and operate, with the numbers that actually decide the booking.
We are komododragontour.com, operated by Komodo Luxury since 2015 and part of Juara Holding Group. The boats below are owned, crewed and maintained in-house. That is the reason we can publish cabin-level pricing at all: we are not quoting you a broker’s guess at someone else’s availability.

Prices are in USD. Shared 3D2N rates are per person, per cabin tier, based on standard double occupancy. Private rates are per night for the whole vessel, with a minimum of three nights (4D3N) and a maximum of eleven nights (12D11N).

Two vessels deserve a note. Komodo Signature is a world-record wooden phinisi superyacht at 78.2 metres. Lamima is the largest phinisi-hulled yacht in the world at 65.2 metres. Neither is a marketing claim we invented; both are matters of record in the shipbuilding registry.
How do you actually choose between these boats?
Work through four filters in order. Most people try to start with the boat and end up confused.
How many days do you need for a Komodo tour?
3D2N is the recommended minimum for a proper Komodo boat tour. Two nights aboard is what unlocks Padar Island at sunrise and Kalong Island at sunset — the two moments that are physically impossible on a day trip because they happen outside the daylight window a speedboat can operate in. A 1-Day Speedboat Tour is the right answer only if you genuinely cannot spare more time; it covers Padar, Komodo Island or Rinca, Pink Beach and Manta Point in one long day from about 05:00 to 18:00. A 2D1N sits between the two at roughly USD 250–450 per person. 4D3N and longer reach Gili Lawa, Siaba, Sebayur, Mawan, Manjarite and Tatawa without rushing.
Shared cabin or whole-boat charter?
The arithmetic is simple. A shared 3D2N cabin costs USD 330–850 per person. A private charter costs USD 5,300 or more per night with a three-night minimum, so USD 15,900 upwards for 4D3N. The crossover point for most groups is around ten to twelve travellers — below that, buy cabins; above that, charter. Extra beds or additional persons in a shared cabin run USD 250–410. Our fuller breakdown lives on sharing vs private.
Does the cabin tier really matter?
Yes, more than the boat name does. On Neptune Cruise Phinisi, a Deluxe cabin is USD 610 and a Mansard is USD 850 on the same departure, same crew, same itinerary. The difference is bed size, window versus porthole, deck level and bathroom. If you sleep well anywhere, book the entry tier on a better boat rather than the top tier on a lesser one. Solo travellers should ask about occupancy specifically, since shared departures are priced per cabin.
Phinisi, cruise, yacht or speedboat?
- Phinisi — traditional Indonesian wooden sailing boat, up to 20 guests, open-deck living, the classic Komodo experience. USD 5,300–8,500 per night private.
- Cruise — larger steel or teak vessel, 14–25 guests, indoor air-conditioned lounge and dining. Better for families and shoulder-season weather. USD 5,300–13,500 per night.
- Yacht — Lamima and Prana by Atzaro. Crew-to-guest ratios and service standards on a different scale entirely. USD 30,000+ per night.
- Speedboat — day charter only, no cabins, maximum ground covered per hour.
What the price does not include
As of January 2026, Komodo National Park fees for foreign passport holders are IDR 250,000 (about USD 16) per person for a 1-day trip and IDR 250,000 per person per day (about USD 16) per person for a 3D2N trip. Fees are set by the park authority, tiered by trip duration and visitor class, and paid separately from tour prices. Indonesian citizens pay a lower domestic rate. Full detail sits on our park fees and tickets page.

Safety on every vessel in this table
Komodo dragons are wild, dangerous animals. You must always stay with your assigned park ranger during any trek at Rinca (Loh Buaya) or Komodo Island (Loh Liang), and follow their instructions without exception. Do not walk ahead, do not separate from the group to take photographs, and tell your ranger before the trek if you are menstruating — dragons track scent over long distances.
Currents at Manta Point (Karang Makassar) and around Tatawa are strong and change fast. Snorkel where your crew directs you, wear the flotation provided, and stay within sight of the tender. Every vessel in our fleet carries life jackets sized for children, a first-aid kit and a crew member trained in basic response.
Where the boats actually go
All routes depart Labuan Bajo, roughly one hour by air from Bali. A 3D2N loop typically covers Kelor or Kanawa on the way out, Padar Island for sunrise, Pink Beach (Pantai Merah), Komodo Island or Rinca for the ranger-guided dragon trek, Manta Point, Taka Makassar’s disappearing sandbar, and Kalong Island at dusk for the flying-fox exodus. Longer charters add Gili Lawa, Siaba, Sebayur, Mawan and Manjarite. Dry season runs April to November; July to September is peak, and that is when named cabins disappear first.
One clarification, since the words get used interchangeably online. A Komodo liveaboard is a vessel configured for scuba diving — dive deck, compressors, divemasters, nitrox — repositioning overnight between dive sites for certified divers. That is a different product, and our sister site komododivingtour.com handles it. Everything on this page is cruising and leisure sailing: sightseeing, island hopping, snorkelling, sunsets, and ranger-guided dragon trekking at the centre of it. No certification required.

Frequently asked questions
Which Komodo boat company is best?
Judge on ownership, not on catalogue size. Most Labuan Bajo websites are brokers reselling other people’s boats, which is why prices and standards move around. komododragontour.com is operated by Komodo Luxury, which has owned, crewed and maintained its own fleet since 2015, holds TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice for 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 plus TripAdvisor’s Best Boat Agency in Labuan Bajo 2025, and rates 4.8 stars from 152 Google reviews.
What is the cheapest Komodo boat with a private cabin?
Yumana Superior at USD 330 per person on a 3D2N shared departure is the true entry rate across our fleet. Any advertised figure below that generally refers to a deck-share or a day trip, not a private cabin. Elbark Banda Neira, Naturalia Lagoon and Vinca Balinese sit just above it at USD 400–430.
How many cabins do I need for my group?
Count couples and solo travellers separately. A group of eight in four couples fits four cabins, which most 15–20 guest phinisi can release without you chartering the whole vessel. Groups of ten or more usually save money and gain flexibility by chartering privately per night rather than buying ten shared cabins.
Is a phinisi or a cruise vessel better?
A phinisi is a traditional Indonesian wooden sailing boat: more character, open deck living, typically up to 20 guests. A cruise vessel such as Ayvara or Malca is larger and more structured, with indoor air-conditioned lounge and dining space, which matters for families, older travellers and anyone sailing in shoulder-season weather.
How far in advance should I book a specific boat?
For July to September peak season, three to six months ahead for a named vessel and cabin tier. A 50 percent deposit secures the date and the balance is due 14 days before departure. Popular cabins such as Neptune Mansard and Mosalaki Adonara sell out first because there is only one of each per boat.
Are park fees included in these boat prices?
No. As of January 2026, Komodo National Park fees for foreign passport holders are IDR 250,000 (about USD 16) per person per calendar day, set by Government Regulation PP No. 36/2024 — multi-day trips are charged per day in the park, not as a flat trip rate. Fees are set by the park authority and paid separately from tour prices.
